Huge line follower robot

The story behind the pictures...
To convince my university (october 6 university in Egypt) to let us participate in the international robotics contest ROBOCON 2007, we had to repair an old robot which we did not build, before starting our own... (guess why?!)

The chassis of the robot was very heavy (over 25 Kg!) which made everything more difficult as the robot gained a lot of momentum and making it follow a line was more challenging than usual.

This picture set was taken during one of the first testing sessions in my apartment. As you may notice, the main microcontroller board in hanging in the air by some wires!
Another little challenge was to build H-Bridges capable of driving those 24V 5A motors...

Here is a first View of the robot. I want to stress that this is not our work, we just replaced the electronics!. By the way, I should mention that this was the robot that participated to Robocon 2006 and which was originally made by older students.

Here is another view, where you can see the H-bridges. Each one has a Fan and a heatsink to dissipate heat and ensure maximum protection.
